Tajikistan is predominantly an Islamic country with the exception of minorities. Dushanbe, besides being the capital, is the largest and most culturally significant city of the country.
Tajik is the official language of this nation. The Government is Republican in nature and has Emomalii Rahmon as the President of the country. Tajikistan obtained the status of an Independent country in the year 1991. The country has the dubious distinction of being the most impoverished nation in Central Asia.
